Laboratory Safety

Your safety within the laboratory is of utmost importance. During class, a discussion on safety will ensue, but as a minimum, the following points are strictly enforced. Failure to abide by these expectations will result in dismissal from the lab.

  1. Safety eyewear must be used during dissection exercises. Acceptable eyeware must have a rating of “Z87.1”
  2. Eating. during laboratory time is prohibited.
  3. Children. Due to safety concerns, children are never permitted in the lab.
  4. Gloves are required during laboratory exercises.
  5. Clean up. All surfaces are to be cleaned thoroughly after dissections.

If you need an MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheet) for submission to your doctor, you will find the links below. Please have your doctor write and sign a note indicating that it is OK for you to be in the lab or indicate what precautions he/she recommends. You should do this if you are:

• Pregnant

• Immunocompromised in any way

• Have a known respiratory illness.
